It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the first International Workshop on Video Coding and Video Processing VCVP 2008 which is held at Huawei’s campus. The workshop is the forum where advanced video coding and video processing technologies are presented and in-depth discussed by leading experts from all over the world and also local Huawei engineers.
Since the authors are from industries as well as from universities, a good mixture of technologies, implementations and theoretical basics is guaranteed.
The workshop is also an excellent opportunity to create or enlarge a network to colleagues in the video technology field. You are kindly invited to join us and help in committees to organize future workshops in a world where new digital media products and technologies are developed with a breathtaking speed.
Let me also acknowledge the support of Huawei executives and colleagues for hosting VCVP 2008 and thank all the people having contributed to make this workshop happen.
