Huawei Launches AI Development Platform HiKey 970

Huawei launched its world-leading AI development platform HiKey 970 at Linaro Connect Hong Kong 2018 on March 19. Based on Kirin 970, the world’s first AI mobile computing platform integrated with a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU), HiKey 970 will provide developers with an open-source development board featuring powerful AI capabilities, hardware acceleration and outstanding performance, and unite more developers to create a better future for mobile AI applications.

HiKey 970 is an AI-friendly development platform that integrates Huawei’s innovative HiAI computing architecture and popular neural network frameworks. Besides CPU and GPU AI operations, it supports NPU neural network computing hardware acceleration, enabling easier and more efficient AI development in robots, smart cities and deep learning algorithms and turning smart life into reality.

From a leading AI development platform to an AI ecosystem

As AI technology gains traction, the industry's discussion on AI applications has never stopped, how will AI change the society and what breakthrough experience can AI bring to us are becoming the focus of industry. HiKey 970 is the third generation development board rolled out by Huawei. Compared to the previous two generations, it learned a lot of from developers on hardware and software. It has greater computing power and richer hardware interfaces and supports mainstream operating systems and AI stacks. It integrates Huawei’s HiAI framework and other mainstream neural network frameworks, supporting NPU neural network computing hardware acceleration as well as CPU and GPU AI operations, which can greatly help on-device AI development.
