The Wushu performance Heroes of Heaven and Earth at the 2021 Spring Festival Gala was a milestone in 8K content production and broadcasting. It featured a 360-degree surround shot, presenting an out-of-time and out-of-space feel, and a new viewing paradigm where the viewer can control, interact, and rotate the view at will. UHD cameras were used to accurately identify and focus in on the target during complex motion. In addition, intelligent 360-degree panoramic stitching in seconds was leveraged to generate stunning 8K footage.

On Chinese New Year's Eve, the 2021 Spring Festival Gala was aired in 8K to more than 30 UHD screens and all-new 8K TVs in nine cities, through an 8K UHD TV channel. HiSilicon conducted the successful 8K live broadcast trial of the Chinese Football Association Super League (CSL) final in Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre, in conjunction with the Jiangsu Broadcasting Cable Information Network Corporation Limited, National Radio and Television Administration UHDTV Research and Application Laboratory, China Sports Media, Arcvideo Tech, and BOE. It was the first-ever E2E 8K UHD live broadcast trial of a major sporting event in China, and streamlined the process of 8K UHD live broadcasting, encompassing capture, production, encoding, modulation, transmission, direct-to-home reception, decoding, and playback.

The 8K feeds were transmitted synchronously on the network to eight select spots in Beijing, China, bringing the audience closer to the scene, giving the impression that they were in the center of the action.
